Multimedia creation assignments allow educators to continue to enrich and scaffold the learning experience for their students by providing structured guidance and additional sources of inspiration for each assignment.
Educators can now add rich text to their assignment descriptions, such as bullet points, numbering, Bold and italic font, and hyperlinks. Educators can also add media from various sources, streamlining the video creation process for their students.

Create a multimedia creation assignment
Navigate to the Classes page in the Multimedia Creation space and select the class to which the assignment should be assigned.
Click Create Assignment to start creating a new assignment.
Provide the information for the assignment
Enter the assignment's name and description. Instructors can also use the rich text editor below to adjust formatting, add hyperlinks, or add lists to the description.
Record video instructions (Optional)
Besides entering assignment descriptions in text format, instructors can also record a video to provide learners with the instructions and descriptions for the assignment. Click the Record button to launch the video recorder.
Select to record from the Screen or the webcam, select an audio source, and click Record to start recording.
After completing the recording, click Stop to stop the video recorder.
If you are recording from the screen, switch back to the WeVideo tab and click the Stop Recording button to stop the video recorder.
Preview the recording at the top, and use the trim tool to trim the recording if needed.
Click Record Again to start over or Save to keep the recording. Please note that once you choose to record again, the previous recording will be discarded.
The recording is now attached to the assignment for learners to review before they jump into the assignment. To record again, click the “X” on the recording to delete it and repeat the steps in this section to create a new recording.
Adjust the settings for the assignment
Select the project type for the assignment. There are four options for the assignment:
(Optional) Upload a cover photo for the assignment by clicking the Import Cover Photo button.
(Optional) Attach a sample video to the assignment for learners to review before they jump into the assignment by clicking the +Add Sample Video button and attaching the video from the uploads page, exports page, or your device.
(Optional) Instructors can create starting blocks for their learners. When launching the assignment, learners will be able to use the media and placeholders in the starting blocks to create their works. Click + Add media and starting blocks and select one of the following options:
- Start from Scratch: Open the editor and create new starting blocks for this assignment.
- Add Your Projects: Select projects from the instructor’s account and add them to the assignment as starting blocks.
Instructors who select to start from scratch will be brought to the starting blocks setup page. They can add the media to the assignment by selecting it from the project bin on the left. They can also add the media to the timeline. Learners will see these media and tracks when launching the assignment, and they can edit, add, or remove media from the starting blocks. After creating the starting blocks, click Close at the top right to save and close this page.
Click Next to proceed to the settings page for the assignment.
Select the participation option for the assignment, which can be assigned to individual users or teams.
Enter the due date for the assignment. The assignment will not be accessible after the due date.
Enable ClassFeed for the assignment (optional)
Enable the ClassFeed option if instructors wish to allow learners to view their peers’ submissions. After enabling the ClassFeed option, instructors can adjust the following settings:
- Students must submit their assignment before they can view their classmates' submissions: The ClassFeed tab will only be available to learners after they submit their work.
- Submissions are hidden from the ClassFeed until I approve them: The submitted video will only be displayed in the ClassFeed page after the instructor approves it.

Complete editing and assign the assignment to learners
After adjusting the settings, click Assign to publish the assignment to the class immediately or Save Draft to save it as a draft. Please note that once learners take the assignment, it can no longer be edited.
To publish the draft assignment to the class, locate it from the class, click the triple dots button, and select Assign to publish it for learners.
The drafts and published assignments can be added to the assignment ideas to use in other classes or to share with other users in the organization.
