How do I create a podcast?

To create a podcast in WeVideo, record voiceover(s), add music and effects, and export an audio-only file. Follow the guide below for step-by-step instructions and tips.

Before you start

Record your podcast narration

The podcast option in the quick actions menu on the Multimedia Creation home page

 Log in to WeVideo and click the Podcast shortcut from the Quick actions menu.

Choose an audio source and click Start.

Click Record to start. If you need a break, click Pause to pause the recording, then click Play to resume.

When you’re finished, click Stop.

Preview your recording, then click Save to finish, or Record to redo it.

Add more recordings as needed

The Add Narrate option in the Add Media menu in the WeVideo video editor.

To add another recording, click + Add media and then click Narrate.

Click Record to start. If you need a break, click Pause to pause the recording, then click Play to resume.

When you’re finished, click Stop.

Preview your recording and then click Save to finish or Record again to re-do it. Repeat steps 1–5 until you’ve recorded your whole podcast script.

Add music or sound effects

The audio tab for stock music and sound effects in the WeVideo video editor.

If desired, add royalty-free stock music and sound effects by clicking Audio, then dragging your clip of choice onto the timeline.

Organize and edit the clips

With your voiceover and audio tracks now on the timeline, you can organize and edit them in several ways.


The audio clips are on the timeline in the editor.

Drag a clip along the timeline to change its position, or trim a clip by dragging the playhead at either end.

Adjust the volume at a specific timestamp by clicking Audio & Opacity > Show audio level and then clicking and dragging the volume line up or down.

Select a clip from the timeline and click Edit to adjust the volume, enable fade, or reduce noise.

Export your podcast file

The export button in the WeVideo video editor.

When you’re done editing your podcast, click Export in the upper right corner and make sure the Podcast format is selected. Then click the Export button.
