Through WeVideo’s multimedia creation assignments, instructors can create and assign multimedia projects to their classes in WeVideo, including helpful text, hyperlinks, and media files within the assignment instructions.
To create a multimedia creation assignment, simply navigate to the relevant course in WeVideo and then click Create Assignment.

Before you start
- To assign a multimedia project, you must first create a class in WeVideo.

Select the class
Navigate to the Classes page in the Multimedia Creation space and select the class to which the assignment should be assigned.
Create a new assignment
Click Create Assignment and then select either Quick recording or Multimedia creation. (Both options will allow you to record; the Quick recording option is simply a streamlined set-up with fewer assignment options beyond the recording itself.)
Fill in the assignment details
Complete the assignment details by filling in the provided fields.
Required assignment details include:
- Assignment name
- Project type: Video, GIF, podcast, or Storyboard
Optional assignment details include:
- Description: Provide written instructions with hyperlinks if needed.
- Recording: Record verbal instructions and/or a screenshare if desired.
- Cover photo: Import an image to serve as the assignment cover photo.
- Starting blocks: Customize the video timeline to give learners a shared starting point, choosing to start from scratch or to add an existing project from WeVideo. (Note: these starting blocks cannot be changed after the assignment is assigned.)
- Sample video: Upload a video to give students an example, choosing a file from your device or from the media already uploaded to your WeVideo account.
Choose the assignment settings
Complete the assignment by filling in the provided setting fields and then clicking Assign.
Required assignment settings include:
- Participation: Select Individual or Team. If you choose Team, you can set the number of teams to create and then assign learners manually or let them choose teams for themselves. (Find more information on assignment teams here.)
Optional assignment details include:
- Due date and time: The assignment will not be accessible after the due date.
- ClassFeed: Enable ClassFeed to allow for learner discussion. (Learn more about ClassFeed settings and options here.)
Review and revise the assignment
Once the assignment is assigned, it will appear on the Classes page within the class to which it was assigned.
Review the assignment description at any time by clicking on the thumbnail, or click the three dots menu to edit the assignment.
