How to use Real-Time Collaboration in WeVideo

Create a project

The create project button on the projects page in WeVideo.

Go to the Projects page and click the Create project button.

The selected project on the projects page in WeVideo

Alternatively, if the project already exists, click the Edit button on the Projects dashboard.

Tip: If you’ll be collaborating on many projects, you can also invite collaborators at the folder level.

Invite collaborators

The invite collaborator button is at the top of the WeVideo Editor.

From the multimedia editor, click the Invite collaborators button next to the project title.

The email input section for inviting collaborators to the project.

Enter the collaborator’s name, email, or group, and then click Invite. (Note: Once you start typing, suggestions will auto-populate.)

Repeat as needed. There is no limit to the number of real-time collaborators; however, smaller groups may find collaboration more fruitful.

Note: Collaborators have editing access but cannot delete projects or remove other collaborators.

Have collaborators jump in

The selected project on the projects page in WeVideo

Invited collaborators can find the shared project on their Projects page, where they can click the project to jump in and start editing.

The video editor shows the user icons for the collaborators.

Multiple collaborators can work on the same project simultaneously, with individual actions tracked in real time via their profile icon.

Optional: Use comments for easy collaboration

The comments input section in the video editor.

For easy discussion, click Comment to add a comment anywhere on the timeline, or click into an existing comment to reply.

Plan and permission requirements for real-time collaboration

  • By default, Admin Plus users can collaborate only on projects within the same building; if desired, the license owner may adjust these permissions to allow cross-building collaboration.
