How to set the due date for the interactive video assignment in the LMS?

Launch the WeVideo LTI integration tool from the LMS course to assign the interactive video and adjust its due date using the integration. Please select the LMS platform you are using from the list below to view the detailed instructions.

What happens after the due date in WeVideo has passed?

The weVideo notification page indicates that the learner can not access the content because the due date has passed.

After the due date in WeVideo, learners will no longer be able to access the assigned interactive video. If they try to launch the interactive video, submit answers to questions, or retry an interaction, they will see a message indicating that they do not have access to the interactive video because it has passed its due date.

Can the instructor update the due date in WeVideo after the interactive video is assigned?

Yes, the due date set in WeVideo can always be updated as needed. This allows instructors to reopen the assignment to learners or to close the assessment early.

The Monitor button on the Manage Link page within the LMS assignment is highlighted.

To adjust the due date in WeVideo, navigate to the assignment in the LMS and click the Monitor button on the Manage Link page.

The interactive videos option at the top of the monitor page is highlighted

Click the Interactive Videos tab at the top to view the class's interactive videos.

The interactive video thumbnail is marked as the first step, and the Edit Assignment option in the menu is marked as the second step.

Click the thumbnail of the interactive video and select the Edit Assignment option.

The due date section is marked as the first step, and the Update button at the top is marked as the second step.

Update the assignment's due date, then click Update.

What is the difference between the due date in WeVideo and in the LMS?

Instructors may see two different due date settings when assigning the interactive video to the LMS:

  • Due date set in WeVideo: This due date controls when learners can and can not access the interactive video.
  • Due date set in the LMS: Depending on the LMS, this date determines course scheduling, the late submission policy, and the late penalty.

Instructors can enable either or both of the due dates, depending on the learning experience they want to achieve. For example, if the instructor wants all learners to complete the assignment and apply a late penalty to those who finish after the due date, they should enable the due date in the LMS but not in WeVideo. This way, learners will not be blocked after the due date, but will still be subject to the LMS's late submission policy. On the other hand, if the instructor does not want any students to complete the assignment after the due date, the due date set in WeVideo will be suitable for this scenario.

What happens to the due date in WeVideo when copying the LMS course to a new course?

When the course is copied in the LMS, the assigned interactive videos are copied over without needing to relink them. However, the due date of the copied assignment will be set to null in WeVideo. Please follow the steps in the previous section to update a new due date for the copied assignments.

Plan and role requirements for setting the due date for the interactive video assigned to the LMS

Instructors and administrators with the WeVideo Educational Organization license can assign their interactive videos to the LMS course via the WeVideo LTI integration and set the due date during the assigning process.
