What are the supported project types?

There are five project types users can select from when creating a project:

  • Video: Projects with video, audio, and text tracks for users to create videos. Please see this article for more information about editing videos with the WeVideo editor.
  • Recording: Launch the video recorder to record from webcam, screen, or both. The recorded videos will be stored on the Uploads page and can be used in the projects. Please see this article for more information about recording videos with the WeVideo recorder.
  • GIF: Projects are limited to 45 seconds and contain only video tracks. The exports from the GIF project are image files with looping animations. Please see this article for more information about creating GIFs with WeVideo.
  • Podcast: Launch the project with the audio recorder. Please note that the audio recorder has a 10-minute limit for each recording. To record for more than 10 minutes, please divide the content into sections no longer than 10 minutes. Please see this article for more information about recording podcasts with WeVideo.
  • Storyboard: A simplified version of the video editor with the essential editing features. Please see this article for more information about editing videos with the Storyboard editor.

How to create projects?

There are four options for creating new projects in the Multimedia Creation space.

  • Click the Create button at the top left of the window to launch the WeVideo editor with the project type set to Video and start a new project. Users can adjust the project type during export.
  • Click the dropdown button next to the Create button and select the project type from the list. Besides creating a new project, users can also create an assignment or an interactive video with the dropdown menu if these options are available to their license.
  • Select one of the options from the Quick Actions menu on the Multimedia Creation Home page. When users select one of the options, the WeVideo editor will open with the corresponding settings for the selected project type.
  • Navigate to the Projects page and click the Create Project button to launch the editor and create a new project. Users can also click on the projects on this page to open and continue editing them.
