When building a multimedia creation or quick recording assignment, instructors can add descriptions, sample videos, and starting blocks to the assignment as a lesson plan to guide learners in completing it.

Before you start
Create a multimedia creation assignment with a lesson plan
In WeVideo’s Multimedia Creation space, navigate to the Classes page and click on the class where you want to create the assignment.
Click the Create Assignment button and select the Multimedia Creation option.
Enter the name and description of the assignment.
(Optional) Click the Record button to start the recorder and capture a video from your webcam or screen to attach as a video description for learners.
Select the project type from one of the following options
- Video: Regular project with videos, images, and audio tracks.
- GIF: A looping image with no audio track.
- Podcast: A project with audio tracks only.
- Storyboard: A video project created with the simplified storyboard editor.
(Optional) Click the Import Cover Photo option to upload an image from your device as the assignment ideas' cover photo.
(Optional) Click the Add Assignment Resources button to add starting blocks to the assignment idea. When learners take the assignment, they will begin with the media included in the start blocks. There are two options to add starting blocks to the assignment idea:
- Start from scratch: Open the interactive video editor to create a project from scratch as the starting blocks for this assignment idea.
- Add your projects: Select a project from your account to add it to this assignment as the starting blocks.
(Optional) Click the Add Sample Video button to include a sample video in your assignment idea. You can select the video from your uploads and exports library in your WeVideo account or upload one from your device.
Click Next to move to the next step to adjust the assignment settings.
Set the participation type to either an individual project or a team project. If set to a team project, use the input section to specify the number of teams to create. Instructors can also click the Assign Teams option to assign learners to the teams. If learners are not assigned, they will be able to choose which team to join when launching the assignment.
(Optional) Set the assignment's due date.
Select whether to enable ClassFeed and Comments for the assignment. ClassFeed allows learners to view each other’s submissions, and commenting lets them leave text or video comments on their peers’ submissions.
Click the Assign button at the top right of the window to assign it to the class, or click the Save Draft button to save this assignment as a draft for further editing.
Create a quick recording assignment with a lesson plan
Navigate to the Classes page and click on the class where you want to create the assignment.
Click the Create Assignment button and select the Quick Recording option.
Enter the name and description of the assignment.
(Optional) Click the Record button to start the recorder and capture a video from your webcam or screen to attach as a video description for learners.
Select the recording type from one of the following options:
- Webcam
- Screen
- Dual
Set your desired recording duration. The duration can be set from 30 seconds to 10 minutes.
(Optional) Click the Import Cover Photo option to upload an image from your device as the assignment ideas' cover photo.
(Optional) Click the Add Sample Video button to include a sample video in your assignment idea. You can select the video from your uploads and exports library in your WeVideo account or upload one from your device.
Click Next to move to the next step to adjust the assignment settings.
(Optional) Set the assignment's due date.
Select whether to enable ClassFeed and Comments for the assignment.
Click the Assign button at the top right of the window to assign it to the class, or click the Save Draft button to save this assignment as a draft for further editing.
