After students retry the interaction or the interactive video, they will receive new grades from the interactive video assignment. If students retake the entire interactive video, their updated grades will be automatically synced to the LMS gradebook. If students retry some interactions after they complete the interactive video, their instructor will need to manually sync the updated grades from WeVideo to the LMS gradebook.
Before you start
- Create interactive videos to assign to learners
- Install the WeVideo Interactivity integration in the LMS
- Assign the interactive videos to learners through the LMS integration
How to allow students to retake an interactive video?
Instructors can adjust the interaction settings to allow students to retry the individual interaction or adjust the interactive video settings to allow students to retake the entire interactive video.
Allow students to retry the interactions
After creating the interaction, click Advanced to expand the advanced settings menu, and select the “Allow more than one attempt” option. Use the slider to adjust how many times students can retry this interaction. Repeat the step for other interactions if needed.
Allow students to retake the entire interactive video
After creating the interactive video, switch to the Review tab in the interactive video editor, expand the Playback Options, and select the “Allow Learners to Retake the Interactive Video Upon Completion” option.
How do I resync the new grades after a student retakes the interactive video?
When the students retake the entire interactive video
If instructors allow learners to retake the interactive video upon completion, learners can use the Retake button on the completion screen to do so. Please note that once the student clicks the retake button, their previous submission will be archived, and they will need to answer all the questions in the interactive video again to earn a new grade.
After the student completes the retake of the interactive video, their updated grade will be synced to the LMS gradebook. If there are free-response interactions in the interactive video, instructors will need to grade the new submission manually. Click the Monitor button on the Manage Link page from the LMS assignment to launch the monitor page.
Provide the grade to learners’ submissions, select the learners who need to be resynced by clicking the checkbox next to their name, and click the “Sync Selected Grades” button.
When the students retry some of the interactions in the interactive video
If the student retries the interactions after completing the interactive video, their instructor will need to resync the grades so the updated grades are reflected in the LMS gradebook. Please ask the student to inform their instructors if they retry the interactions after completing the interactive video. If they retry the interaction before finishing the interactive video, their grades will be synced to the LMS gradebook when they complete the video, and they will not need their instructor to resync the grades for them.
To sync the updated grades for learners who retry the interactions, click the Monitor button on the Manage Link page from the LMS assignment to launch the monitor page.
Select the learners who need to be resynced by clicking the checkbox next to their name, and click the “Sync Selected Grades” button.
Limitation to resync students’ grades after they retake the interactive video
When students retake the interactive video, WeVideo displays their most recent grades, instead of the highest grades, in the gradebook and syncs them with the LMS gradebook. Their previous submissions’ data can be extracted from the interactive video’s monitor page export.
Plan and role requirements for resyncing grades after students retake the interactive video
All learners with the Educational license (Instructor or Organization) can retake interactions or interactive videos if their instructors permit it. Instructors and administrators with the Educational license (Instructor or Organization) can adjust whether students can retake interactions or interactive videos, and can resync learners’ grades with the LMS when needed.
