Advanced settings for different interaction types

Multiple choice

  • Interaction is required: Learners must answer this question to proceed in the interactive video.
  • Interaction pauses video playback: The interaction will pause the video when learners answer the question. If this option is not selected, please set a duration for the interaction so it can be displayed to learners during the set timeframe.
  • Learners can rewind after reaching this interaction: By default, the progress bar is disabled when the interaction appears in the interactive video to prevent learners from rewinding the video. If this option is selected, the progress bar will always be available, allowing learners to rewind before answering the question.
  • Randomize answer order: The answer options will be placed randomly for different learners. If the learner retakes the interactive video, the answer options will also be randomized again.
  • Allow more than one attempt: Allow learners to use the Retry button to reanswer this question. When selected, instructors can use the slide bar to select how many times learners can retake this interaction. There are two suboptions for this setting:
    • Only show feedback on the last attempt: If feedback is added to the answer option, it will only be displayed to learners on their last attempt at this interaction.

    • Only show answer highlighting on the last attempt: Learners will not see the correct and incorrect answer highlights until their last attempt at this interaction.

  • Hide correct answer if not selected: Only show the answer highlighting for the selected answer option, but do not show the answer highlighting for the unselected answer. There are two suboptions for this setting:
    • Never show answer highlighting: Learners will never see if their selected answer is correct. This can be helpful if this interactive video is used for an exam and you want learners to refrain from sharing answers with others.
    • Only show correct answers on the last attempt: Whether learners select the correct answer or not, the correct answer will be revealed when they have used up all their attempts in this interaction.

Adjust interaction default settings

In addition to adjusting the settings for individual interactions, instructors can modify the default settings for each interaction type in the user settings, which will automatically apply to newly created interactions.

Click the user icon on the top right of the Interactivity space and select User Settings.

Scroll down to the Interaction Defaults section and select an interaction type you want to adjust from the dropdown menu.

Adjust the points and settings for the selected interaction. After adjusting the settings, use the dropdown menu to choose a different interaction type and repeat the steps to change the settings.

After adjusting the settings, click Apply to apply the change. Please note that the changes will only affect interactions created after the change and will not impact existing interactions. Please manually adjust the settings for the existing interactions.
