How can I adjust the interactive videos to prevent learners from skipping ahead until they have answered the required questions?

Ensure the interactions are set to “Required”

To ensure learners complete the required interactions before completing the interactive video, the interactions must be set to the “Required” state in the interactive video.

Ensure the Interaction is Required option is selected. If this option is not selected, learners will be able to complete the interactive video without submitting an answer to this interaction.

Repeat the steps for other required interactions in the interactive video.

Adjust the interactive video playback options to prevent skipping

Instructors can adjust the interactive video’s playback options to prevent learners from fast-forwarding or skipping.

The review tab of the interactive video editor is highlighted as the first step, and the playback options menu is highlighted as the second step.

Click Review at the top of the interactive video editor to switch to the Review tab and expand the Playback Options menu.

Adjust the following settings as needed:

  • Unselect the “Allow learners to skip interactions” option: This option will override the required setting in interactions’ advanced settings, making all interactions not required and skippable. To prevent learners from skipping in the interactive video, please unselect this option.
  • Adjust the “Allow viewers to fast-forward” option: This option lets learners fast-forward through the interactive video. They still need to answer all required questions, but can fast-forward to the next required interaction in the interactive video if this option is enabled. Please adjust this option based on your desired learning experience for learners.
  • Adjust the “Allow learners to increase playback speed” option: Allow learners to play the interactive video at up to 2x speed. If this option is not enabled, learners can only slow down the playback speed, but cannot increase it. Please adjust this option based on your desired learning experience for learners.
