The broadcast functionality in WeVideo Interactivity enables instructors and learners to watch interactive videos and answer questions in real-time. Instructors have full control over the pace of the interactive video when broadcasting, allowing them to fast forward, stop, or rewind the video as needed. Instructors can also see learners’ responses to each question in real-time.
When broadcasting, the video plays on the instructor’s device, and learners will only see the questions on their devices. Instructors can project their screens in the classroom or use the screen share feature in the online classroom to watch the video simultaneously with learners.
When broadcasting through the LMS, learners’ grades will be synced to the LMS grade book after the broadcast is completed, and instructors can use the monitor page in Interactivity to adjust learners’ grades if needed. Please see this article for more information about broadcasting interactive videos and monitoring learners’ responses through the LMS.
Assign interactive videos for broadcast in the LMS
Create an interactive video in WeVideo Interactivity for the broadcast. Please see this article for more information about creating interactive videos with WeVideo Interactivity.
| Note: Please place all interactions in the sidebar for the broadcast interactive video to ensure they can be displayed correctly to learners. |
Log in to the LMS and navigate to the course where the broadcast interactive video should be linked to, and follow the steps in the articles below to launch the WeVideo Interactivity integration from the LMS course.
Access WeVideo Interactivity from:
Click the Set Link button on the Manage Link window.
Click the LMS icon next to the interactive video that will be linked as a broadcast activity and click Link.
Update the Learner Experience to Live Broadcast and click the Set Link button on the top right of the window to link the interactive video to the course.
Continue editing the assignment in the LMS and publish it when ready. The interactive video is now linked to the LMS course and ready to be broadcast to learners.
Start the broadcast in the LMS
Navigate to the LMS course where the broadcast interactive video is linked and launch the assignment.
Click the Broadcast button on the manage link page and notify learners to launch the assignment on their devices as well.
The interactive video player will open in a new tab. The number next to the List Learners button indicates the number of learners who have joined the broadcast by launching the assignment on their devices. To view the detailed list of joined learners, click on the List Learners button to expand the list.
Once all learners have joined the broadcast and are ready to start, click the Start button to start the video. The video will play on the instructor’s devices. Instructors can project their screens in the classroom or use the screen share feature in the online classroom to watch the video simultaneously with learners.
When the video is playing, instructors can use the progress bar to fast-forward, rewind, or pause it if needed. Learners will watch the video at the same pace as you on the shared screen. Please see the next section for more information about the learners’ experiences.
When the question appears, it will also be displayed on the learners’ devices. Instructors do not need to answer the questions and can use the following option to monitor learners’ responses in real time.
- Refresh: Refresh the data to display the most up-to-date responses.
-
Show Responses: This option displays the answers submitted by learners along with the number of responses received. You can toggle on and off to adjust whether to display the learners’ names.
-
Show Analytics: This option shows the analytic diagram generated by learners’ responses to this question.
If multiple questions are placed in a group and added to the same timestamp in the interactive video, instructors need to answer the question and click Next on the interaction to move to the next question in the group. Once the instructor moves to the next question, it will also be displayed on the learners' devices.
Once all learners have answered the questions, instructors can proceed by continuing to play the video. Please note that learners will not be able to submit their answers to the past questions once the video starts playing.
Since the instructor controls the playback, please ensure to watch the video to the end and see the completion screen to mark all users in the broadcast as completed so their grades can be synced to the grade book. After seeing this screen, instructors can click Finish and Exit to complete the broadcast.
