WeVideo Interactivity provides the integration tool through the LTI 1.3 standard, allowing instructors to assign interactive content to their Canvas assignments. Learners can access and complete the interactive content directly from Canvas, and their grades will be synced to Canvas once they complete the assignment. Please see the instructions below.
Before you start
- The Interactivity Canvas integration is only available to some users. If the integration tool is not visible from the external tool list, contact your LMS admins.
- If interactive videos or playlists are assigned directly to Interactivity Classes and then added to the LMS course via links or embed codes, they are not connected to the LMS course. Grades are not sent to the LMS gradebook, and learners need to log in to their WeVideo accounts manually rather than accessing the interactive content directly within the LMS.
Create and edit interactive videos from the Interactivity Canvas integration
Navigate to a class in Canvas and click + Assignment from the Assignments page in Canvas to create a new assignment.
Enter the assignment information, change the submission type to External Tool, and click Find.
Select the WeVideo LTI integration tool. The tool name is set by LMS admins, so it may look different from the screenshot below.
Click the Set Link button on the manage link window.
Click the Create New Interactive Video button to launch the interactive video editor. In the interactive video editor, you can import videos from supported video hosts and add interactions to them to create an interactive video. Learn more about creating interactive videos in WeVideo Interactivity.
When creating the interactive video, you can click the Open in New Tab button on the sidebar to open the interactive video editor in a new tab for a better user experience.
To edit the existing interactive video, click its thumbnail or the triple-dot action button and select the Edit option. If you want to open the interactive video editor in a new tab for a better experience, click the Open in New Tab icon to open the interactive video editor in a new tab and start editing.
Assign Interactivity content to Canvas
Navigate to a class in Canvas and click + Assignment from the Assignments page in Canvas to create a new assignment.
Enter the assignment information, change the submission type to External Tool, and click Find.
Select the WeVideo LTI integration tool. The tool name is set by LMS admins, so it may look different from the screenshot below.
Click the Set Link button on the manage link window.
Click the Canvas icon next to the desired interactive video or playlist, then click Link to assign it. If there is no interactive video in the account, click the Create New Interactive Video button to start making your first interactive video.
Select the learner experience to be asynchronous self-paced or synchronous live broadcast.
(Optional) Set the due date for the interactive video. Learners can not access the assignment after the due date. If no date is entered here, there will be no due date for this assignment.
Click Set Link to complete the process.
Click Select to finish the process.
Adjust the assignment grading in Canvas, then Save and publish.
Once content is linked, the following window shows these options:
- Preview: Preview linked content.

Monitor learner grades from Canvas
Click the Monitor button on the manage link page to launch the monitor page and find learners’ names, responses to each question, and grades.
Update learners’ grades or manually assign points to graded questions by clicking the response and entering the points.
