Interactive videos

After launching the assignment, click the Play button to start the interactive video.

In the lower right corner of the player, learners can adjust the interactive video player with the following actions:

  1. Close captions: If captions are available, learners can turn them on or off with the close captions button.
  2. Full screen: Expand the player and watch the interactive video in full-screen mode.
  3. Settings: Adjust other settings for the player, including volume, playback speed, other caption options, and whether the control panel will fade away.

In the lower left corner, learners can control the playback with the following options:

  1. Play/Pause: Start or stop the playback.
  2. Side zone: Expand the side zone to find the table of contents, notepad, and transcripts for the interactive videos.
  3. Rewind/fast forward 10 seconds: Rewind or fast forward the interactive video for 10 seconds. Instructors can turn off these functions if they do not want learners to fast forward.

To take notes while watching the interactive video, click the side zone button and select Notes at the top to open the notepad. The video playback will pause automatically while learners type. Please note that these notes are not visible to other learners but can be reviewed by the instructors.

When taking notes, answering free response questions, or participating in the discussion forum, learners can use the Rich Text Editor to adjust the format or add multimedia content to their submissions. Click the Use Rich Text? button to expand the rich text editor.

The embedded interactions will appear automatically while learners watch the interactive video. They must complete the interactions and click Continue to resume the video playback.

If the instructors enable multiple attempts for the interactions, learners can use the Retry button to retry the interaction they answered incorrectly.

If the PDF file is embedded in the interactive video, learners can use the annotation tool to add annotations to the PDF. Please note that the annotations will not be saved with the interactive video and will be lost once the learners close the page. To preserve the annotations, please download the PDF file after adding notes.

When taking the assignment, learners’ progress is saved in real-time, allowing them to leave and return later to continue. To finish the interactive video assignment, learners must watch the video until the last timestamp and ensure they see the completion screen. They can then click Finish or close the window to return to the class.

If the instructor has set a minimum completion score for the interactive video, learners must meet the minimum score to mark the interactive video as completed. For those learners who do not meet the required scores, their status will remain in progress, and they need to click the Retake button to attempt the interactive video again until they achieve the minimum score and mark it as completed.

Playlists

Launch the playlist and complete all items in it to complete the assignment. Each items have different requirements to be marked as completed:

  • Interactive video: Finish watching the video and answer all required questions.
  • PDF file: Reach the last page of the PDF file.
  • Documents attachment: Download the file.
  • Web embed and text item: Stay on the page for 5 seconds.

When the item is completed, a green mark will be displayed next to it on the table of contents. Learners can click on the next item on the table of contents or click Next on the top right of the window to move forward.

If the instructor has enabled the lock progression feature for the playlist, a lock icon will appear next to the items in the table of contents until the item above is complete. Please click Next to unlock the item and move forward in the playlist.

At any point while working on the playlist, select Save and Exit to save all completed work and close the assignment.

If a certificate is available for the playlist, click Print Certificate to print a certificate of completion after completing all items in the playlist.

Review the assignment

After completing the interactive video or playlist, learners can rewatch it by going to the class and clicking on the assignment. When rewatching the interactive assignment, learners will not be able to submit new answers or edit their submissions unless the instructors turn on the retry feature for the interactions or the retake feature for the interactive video.

If instructors enable the retake feature for the interactive video, learners can use the Retake button on the sidebar to retake the interactive video. Please note that once the learner chooses to retake the interactive video, all previous submissions will be archived, and the learner must reanswer all the questions again to complete the assignment.
