Before you start
- Create an interactive video and add the video segments you want to use.
- Prepare the audio description files; they can be pre-recorded audio or transcript files. Each video segment needs to have its own audio description file.
Upload audio descriptions to video segments in the interactive video
From Interactivity, switch to the Interactive Videos page, click the interactive video thumbnail, and select Edit.
Or, from Multimedia Creation, switch to the Interactive Videos page and click the Edit button on the interactive video.
Switch to the Video Segments tab, click the Pen icon on the top right corner of the video segment, and select Edit Video Segment.
Select the Accessibility option at the top.
Select the Audio Description option at the top. If the video is from the exported project in your WeVideo account with audio descriptions, it will be automatically imported into the interactive video. Users can upload or generate audio descriptions for the exports in Multimedia Creation. If the video is imported from Kaltura, Mediasite, Brightcove, or Wistia, the audio description from those video hosts will also be automatically imported into the interactive video.
Also, you can upload pre-recorded audio in MP3 or WAV format as the audio description. Alternatively, you can upload the transcript in VTT or SRT format, and our text-to-speech generator will generate an audio description from it.
Click Done to complete the process. You can then repeat the steps in this section for other video segments to add audio descriptions for them.
Preview audio descriptions
When building the interactive video, you can preview the audio description at any time. Click the gear icon in the lower right corner, then select the audio description file from the AD (Audio Description) dropdown to enable it.
Once enabled, audio description will be played alongside the video. Click the Play button to start playing the video and preview the audio description.
Learner’s experience with audio descriptions
When watching the interactive video, learners can use the AD (Audio Description) icon in the lower-right corner of the interactive video player to toggle audio description on and off.
If multiple audio descriptions are available in the interactive video, learners can click the gear icon in the lower-right corner of the interactive video player, then select a different audio description from the AD dropdown menu.

When uploading the audio description for the interactive videos, WeVideo supports the following file formats:
