Important notes:

WeVideo recommends that instructors finish editing interactive videos or playlists before assigning them to learners.

Critical vs. non-critical edits

The critical edits to the interactive video might change learners' grades or affect how they complete the assignment, while the non-critical edits will not affect learners' grades and will have minor impacts on learners’ experiences.

Critical edits

The following critical edits will change the learners' grades. After making these edits, please follow the steps in this section to update learners' grades.

  • Update the available points for the interactions
  • Add interactions that are worth more than zero points
  • Remove interactions that are worth more than zero points
  • Change the correct answer for the interaction

Changing the following interactive video settings will not cause grade changes, but will alter the learners’ experiences in the interactive video:

  • Allow learners to rewind after an interaction appears
  • Allow viewers to fast forward
  • Allow learners to increase playback speed
  • Allow learners to retake the interactive video upon completion
  • Allow learners to skip interactions
  • Do not mark interactive video complete unless learner scores at least ____

The following edit will cause discrepancies in learners' grades and experiences. We recommend not making this change once the interactive video has been assigned.

  • Change the interaction type

Non-critical edits

  • Add or edit video segments in an interactive video
  • Change interaction timing
  • Change interaction placement
  • Change the interaction’s text
  • Add or remove interactions that are worth zero points
  • Change the following interactive video settings:
    • Allow learners to view their printable report
    • Disable captions for this video
    • Hide learner score upon interactive video completion

Update learners' grades after editing the interactive video

The update scores button in the review tab of the interactive video editor

After making critical edits to the interactive video, switch to the Review tab in the interactive video editor, then click the Update Score button in the warning message to update learners' scores in the gradebook.

If the interactive video is linked to an LMS assignment, please also visit the monitor page of the interactive video and re-sync the updated grades to the LMS to ensure the most recent grades are shown in the LMS gradebook.
