Note:

  • This article is intended for new WeVideo users who need to install the Interactivity integration with their Canvas environment. Existing PlayPosit users migrating to WeVideo Interactivity do not need to install this Interactivity LMS integration, as their initial PlayPosit LMS setup will be transferred to the WeVideo Interactivity LMS integration from the backend. Please contact your Customer Success Manager for more details about migrating your PlayPosit integration to WeVideo Interactivity.
  • The LMS integration is only available to some users. If you are interested in the integration, please contact your Customer Success Manager to discuss enabling it for your school or organization.
  • This article is for the Canvas administrators to install the integration tool in the environment. For the instructor workflow, please see the instructions in the assign content to learners with Canvas article.

WeVideo Interactivity can be integrated into Canvas as an LTI 1.3 tool. This lets instructors assign interactive videos and playlists from their account to Canvas assignments and automatically syncs learners’ grades to the Canvas gradebook after they complete the assignment.

  • New WeVideo users must install the Interactivity integration with their Canvas environment.

Is course copy supported?

Yes! WeVideo supports Canvas’ course copy and Blueprint features. All linked interactive content, including graded assignments and non-graded interactive content linked through the rich content editor, will be migrated to the new course without needing to relink them when copying the course in Canvas.

Important information about using course copy with linked Interactivity content:

  • All master and child courses are linked to the same interactive video; therefore, any edits to the linked interactive video in WeVideo Interactivity (changes to the interactions, points, or video source) will affect all courses.
  • Although linked to the same interactive video, learners' data and attempts are stored separately for each course. If a learner has taken the class before and enrolls in the copied course to retake it, their previous attempt will not carry over to the new course, and they will need to retake all assignments to complete it.
  • Other instructors launching interactive videos or playlists from the copied course will be given the Facilitator role for those items in the copied course. Learn more about user roles in WeVideo Interactivity in this article.
  • The interactive videos and playlists will not appear in WeVideo’s Classes page for the copied courses until the first user (instructor or learner) launches the assignment from Canvas.
  • When using Blueprint, if the linked interactive content is unlinked or edited from the master course, the changes will also happen to the child course. If changes occur in the child course, they will not affect the main course or other child courses.
  • The due date set for the Canvas assignment can be edited after the course copy. The due date set within WeVideo will be removed after copying over to the new class. Please follow the workflow in the “Update due date for the assignment” section to set a new due date for them in WeVideo.
