Teachers can utilize the AI tool in WeVideo Interactivity to auto-generate interactions based on the content of the videos in the interactive video. Teachers can control when to add the interactions and adjust their complexity based on Bloom’s taxonomy. The generated questions can also be edited afterward to meet the instruction needs best.
Add AI-generated interactions to the interactive video
WeVideo supports creating AI-generated interactions with interactive videos built with exports from your WeVideo account or YouTube videos you own. Please see the sections below for more information.
Use WeVideo to manage and publish your videos
AI-generated interactions are available for the interactive videos built with WeVideo exports. Please follow the steps below to upload or create your videos to WeVideo and add them to Interactivity:
Switch to the Multimedia Creation space and select Create.
Select Import or drag and drop the media file into the editor.
Drag the imported media to the timeline below. You can also edit or trim the media clips with the editor. Please see these articles for more information about editing media in WeVideo.
After editing the media clips, click Export on the top right of the screen and adjust the export settings if needed. Then click Export again to start exporting the project.
To generate AI interactions, the video must have subtitles attached to it. If you do not have a subtitle file for the video, you can click Subtitles and select Auto-generate subtitles to generate the subtitles for this video. If you have the subtitle file in VTT or SRT format, you can upload it to the interactive video in the step below.

(Optional) If you have the video's captions file, switch to the Video Segments tab in the interactive video designer and click the CC icon at the top left of the video.
Upload the caption file to the video. WeVideo Interactivity supports captions in VTT and SRT format. Click Done to save the change.
Click the Generate Interactions button to generate questions with the AI tool.
Select the option to generate the question on the selected timestamp or randomly generate the questions for the entire video. Then, choose the complexity and interaction type of the question. For the selected timestamp, only one complexity and interaction type can be selected, and multiple complexities and interaction types can be chosen for the entire video. There are six complexity levels based on the Bloom's Taxonomy:
- Remember: The question focuses on the learner’s ability to recall facts and basic concepts.
- Understand: The question that requires learners to explain ideas or concepts.
- Apply: The question that asks learners to use the information they learned in new situations.
- Analyze: Learners need to draw connections among the ideas and information.
- Evaluate: Learners will be asked to justify their stand or decision.
- Create: Learners have to produce new or original works based on what they learned from the interactive video.
After completing the settings, click Generate Interaction.
The AI-generated question has been added to the interactive video! It will be highlighted in purple to indicate that it is AI-generated.
Upload captions to WeVideo for YouTube videos you own
If you are the owner of the YouTube videos, you can download your caption file in .VTT format from YouTube and manually upload the captions into WeVideo Interactivity to use the AI-generated interactions with the uploaded captions. Once you have the caption files, please follow the steps below to import them into Interactivity.

Click on the interaction you want to edit to enter the edit mode and adjust the context in the question or the answer options.
Teachers can use the Complexity drop-down menu to choose a different complexity level or click the refresh button to regenerate a new question.
Teachers can also change the interaction type with the interaction type drop-down menu. You may also need to adjust the answer options and correct the answer after changing the interaction type.
(Optional) Switch to the Placement tab at the top to adjust the interaction’s placement from the sidebar to overlay the video.
