When adding media to projects in the multimedia editor, WeVideo supports more than 30 file types. Find out which specific file types are supported below, along with tips and best practices for file formats and sizes.
Supported image file types
WeVideo supports the following image file types:
- JPG
- GIF
- PNG
- TIFF
- BMP
- WEBP
For optimal quality in your final export, we recommend that images be sized to at least 1024x768 pixels.
If you intend to export your project in HD or 4K HD, we recommend that the images are at least 2 MB in size.

WeVideo supports the following video file types:
- 3GP
- 3GPP
- AVI
- DIVX
- DV
- LV
- M4V
- MJPEG
- MKV
- MOD
- MOV
- MP4
- MPEG
- MPG
- M2TS
- MTS
- MXF
- OGV
- WEBM
- WMV
If you intend to export your project in HD or 4K HD, we recommend that the uploaded video clips be at least 1280x720 pixels at 24FPS.

WeVideo supports the following audio file types:
- AIF
- MP3
- M4A
- OGG
- WAV
- WMA
Plan and permission requirements for file uploads
All WeVideo users can upload images, videos, and audio when creating projects in the multimedia editor. However, the file size limit depends on the total storage available in your WeVideo plan.
