Combine different resources into a playlist in Interactivity by selecting Create Playlist. Click Add Module and Add Interactive Videos or Create New Interactive Videos. Select Add Other to add attachments, web embeds, and text items.

Playlist page overview

Click the Playlists tab for the following options:

  • Create Playlist: Open to build a new playlist.
  • Search: Search playlists from keywords and tags.
  • Playlist title: Organize by subject with a clear title.
  • Tags: Organize by target audience, subject, and keywords.
  • Last modified date: Track edits with this information.

Click the Actions button to find:

  • Edit: Edit playlist.
  • Assign: Assign to learners.
  • Monitor: Track progress.
  • Share Link: Share access using a link.
  • Preview: Preview content.
  • Collaborate: Collaborate with learners or teachers.
  • Copy: Copy the playlist to edit a version instead of the original. 
  • Export Analytics: Export data.
  • Delete: Delete playlist.

Create a playlist

The Create Playlist button is highlighted.

Click Create Playlist to launch the playlist designer.

The hex code section is highlighted for users to adjust the theme color for the playlist.

Edit the playlist title and change the theme color using the slider bar, or enter the preferred HEX code.

Click Add Module to host content.

Click the module title to rename it.

Click Add Interactive Videos to import from the Interactive Videos page.

The import icon is highlighted for users to select the interactive videos to import.

Select which videos to import by selecting the Import icon, then click the Add Interactive Videos button at the top of the window. Learner Made Interactive Videos can also be imported.

Users can also Create New Interactive Videos to add to the playlist. Learn more about creating interactive video in WeVideo.

Click Add Other to add supplemental sources to the playlist.

Add attachments, web embeds, or text items to the video. 

  • Attachment: Upload a file in PDF, DOC, CSV, or image format to the playlist. The image file name is the alternative text that the screen reader reads.
  • Web Embed: Paste the URL into the input section to embed the website into the playlist. 
  • Text Item: Enter the title and text description to display in the playlist. 

Edit or remove contents in the playlist

Drag and drop the items in the table of contents to reorder them.

Reorder each item by dragging and dropping on the table of contents.

Click the gear icon next to the item to view its action menu.

Click the Settings (Gear) icon to and then Remove Interactive Video to remove content.

  • Interactive Video Settings: Adjust the video’s tags, playback options, and privacy settings.
  • Edit Interactive Video
  • Remove Interactive Video: When removed, the interactive video is still available in the Interactive Videos library.

Edit or delete the text element by hovering over it and selecting the Settings icon.

Edit the text item, or select Delete Text to delete it.

Click the trash icon next to the web embed or attachment to delete it.

Hover over the web embed resource and select the Trash icon to remove it.

Adjust playlist settings, tags, and certificate settings

Toggle Lock progression to lock items in the playlist. Learners will complete the items in the order set by the instructor to unlock the next item in the playlist.

Enter the keywords/tags, target audience, and subject to organize.

Toggle on Enable playlist certificate to let learners download a certificate of completion after completing the playlist. Users can also customize the certificate's badge, name, signature, and message. Click Preview Certificate to see the content for this playlist.

Preview and assign the playlist

Use the toggle at the top right to switch between preview and edit modes.

Select the Assign preferences for this playlist. 

The start and end date section in the assign playlist panel.

Set start and end dates. Assignments appear in the class after the start date and don't work until the start date. The end date is the assignment's due date, and the assignment is blocked after that date. If no end date is set, the playlist remains available.

Select the classes from the list as the first step, then click the Assign button in the top-right corner of the window.

Select which classes to assign the playlists to and click Assign.

Copy the playlist link and share it with learners. Click Done to close the window.

To retrieve the playlist link after assigning it, click the triple dot icon next to the playlist on the Playlists page, then select the Share Link option from the actions menu.

Playlist requirements and limitations

  • There must be at least one module in the playlist.
  • Multiple modules can be created in one playlist.
  • The URL for web embeds must be in “HTTPS://” format to be embeddable. Try alternate resources if the website isn’t embeddable.
  • The lock progression will not have an effect in the preview mode.
  • Assign to learners option: Users with WeVideo accounts in the same license as the playlist owner can access the playlist through the link or the classes.
  • Assign to professional learning option (deprecated): No longer in use. To assign a playlist for professional learning, select the Assign to learners option, then add the participants to a class in WeVideo as learners. Learn more about professional learning in WeVideo.
  • Assign to people outside the organization option: Anyone can access this playlist with a link after entering their first and last name. This is available for users with a district plan.
  • Assign to anonymous participants option: Anyone can access this playlist with a link. No user information is required. This is available for users with a district plan.
