Users can record videos of themselves using the device’s camera, of their screen, or of both, with the WeVideo recorder in the Multimedia Creation space or within the Multimedia Creation project. If using Google Chrome, the WeVideo Screen & Webcam Recorder Chrome extension is also available to record videos directly in the browser. Access the WeVideo Recorder
From the Multimedia Creation space
Log in to your WeVideo account, switch to the Multimedia Creation space, click the drop-down next to the Create button, and select the Recording option.
From the Multimedia Creation project
Click the +Add Media button at the top of the recorder, then select the Record option.
Adjust the recording source and settings
There are three recording sources available: Dual, Screen, and Webcam.
- Dual: Record the screen and webcam simultaneously, saving them as two separate files.
- Screen: Record a screencast of a tab, window, or the entire screen.

Webcam: Record a video from the built-in or connected webcam.
If you haven’t allowed WeVideo to access your webcam and microphone, please select “Allow for this time” or "Allow on this site” so WeVideo can access your webcam and microphone for recording. Please see this article for troubleshooting information on connecting your webcam and microphone.
Dual recording
Select the camera and microphone you want to use.
(Optional) If you want to blur or remove your background when recording, click the Background option to open the background settings panel.
Click Blur to blur the background, or pick a color to set it as the background color. You can also select a color with the palette or by entering the HEX code.
After adjusting the background, click the Back button at the top to go back to the recording page.
Click Record to start the recording.
Select to record from a tab, window, or the entire screen. If you want to record the audio from the tab as well, please toggle on the “Share with tab audio” option. After selecting the source, click the Share or Share with Audio button to start recording.
After completing the recording, click the Stop Recording button on the WeVideo page, or the Stop Sharing button on the recorded page to stop recording.
Preview the recording and click Save to add it to your account. If you have the captions or audio descriptions file for the recording, you can upload them here as well. They can also be added after recording, during project export, or after export. Please see this article for more information on adding captions and audio descriptions in WeVideo.
If you want to record again, click the Record Again button to start over. Please note that this will remove the current recording and can not be reversed.
Screen recording
Select the microphone you want to use, and click Record to start the recording.
Select to record from a tab, window, or the entire screen. If you want to record the audio from the tab as well, please toggle on the “Share with tab audio” option. After selecting the source, click the Share or Share with Audio button to start recording.
After completing the recording, click the Stop Recording button on the WeVideo page, or the Stop Sharing button on the recorded page to stop recording.
Preview the recording and click Save to add it to your account. If you have the captions or audio descriptions file for the recording, you can upload them here as well. Access the recording
The recordings can be found on the Uploads page and the Uploads tab in the WeVideo project editor.
If the recording is created within the project, it will also be added to the Project Bin and timeline.
