Yes, WeVideo’s interactive video player supports playing 360 videos that are hosted on YouTube or Vimeo. When taking interactive videos built with 360 videos, learners can use their mouse to drag in the video player to adjust the view, or watch the interactive video with VR headsets for better immersion.
Create interactive videos with 360 videos from YouTube or Vimeo
Launch the interactive video editor from the Interactivity space or Multimedia Creation space
From Interactivity, click the Create New Interactive Video button on the Interactive Videos page.
From Multimedia Creation, click the Create Interactive Video button on the Interactive Videos page.
If you want to find a 360 video on YouTube or Vimeo, select YouTube or Vimeo as the video host, then search for the video using keywords.
If you have the URL for the 360 video, click the input URL option and paste it to import it into the interactive video. Please note that the URL must be from YouTube or Vimeo; otherwise, the 360 video will not be supported.
After importing the video, switch to the Interactions tab and click the Create New Interaction button to start adding interactions to the interactive video. Please see this article for more information on adding interactions.
Why do 360 videos look blurrier in interactive video than on YouTube?
WeVideo streams YouTube videos through the embedded YouTube Education player, which typically streams them at a lower resolution (720p or 1080p), depending on the player size, ensuring they run smoothly in the classroom, where multiple users might access them simultaneously. While this might not be noticeable in regular videos, it will make 360 videos appear blurrier to learners.
As a workaround, you can host your 360 videos on Vimeo and import them into WeVideo Interactivity. When streaming from Vimeo, the resolution will be set to the highest level supported by the available bandwidth. Therefore, as long as there is sufficient bandwidth, the 360 videos can be streamed in 4K or higher resolution in WeVideo Interactivity.
