The WeVideo Multimedia Creation learning path allows instructors to combine videos, interactive videos, images, documents, websites, and text items into a learning path project for learners to complete in class.
Before you start
- Prepare the video projects, interactive videos, and websites you want to add to the learning path.
- Upload the images, videos, and documents to WeVideo.
Create a learning path in WeVideo
Create a new learning path project
Navigate to the Learning Paths page in the Multimedia Creation space and click the Create New Learning Path button to launch the editor.
Alternatively, click the arrow next to the Create button to expand the menu, then select the Learning Path option.
Hover over the title of the newly created learning path to update the title.
Add modules to the learning path
To add a new module to the learning path, click the + Add Module button.
Click the triple-dot button on the module to rename or delete it.
Hold the left mouse key on the hamburger icon next to the module title and drag it around to reorder the modules.
Add interactive videos to the learning path
Click the “+” button next to the module title and select the Interactive Videos option.
Select the interactive videos you want to add by clicking the checkbox on them, then click the Add Content button to add them to the module.
Add media and documents to the learning path
Click the “+” button next to the module title and select the Media & Documents option.
The uploaded media will be listed under the Uploads tab, and the exported projects will be listed under the Exports tab. Select the media you want to add to the module by clicking the checkbox on them, and click the Add Content button. Learn more about how to upload media and documents to WeVideo.
Add text items to the learning path
Click the “+” button next to the module title and select the Text option.
Enter the title and content for the text item, and click the Add Content button.
Add web embed items to the learning path
Click the “+” button next to the module title and select the Web Embed option.
Enter the title and the URL for the website you want to embed, and click the Add Content button.
Google Slides and Forms can also be embedded in the learning path for learners to interact with.
When embedding Google Slides or Forms, please ensure you use the shared link as the URL and adjust the sharing permissions to people within your organization or anyone with the link so learners can access the content when taking the learning path.
Some websites may block the ability to be embedded on other platforms. In this case, you will receive the “refused to connect” error. Please find an alternative website to replace it.
Reorder the items in the module
Hold the left mouse key on the hamburger icon next to the item and drag it around to reorder the items.
Rename the item in the module
Click the triple-dot button next to the item, select the Rename or Edit button, and update the title.
Adjust the learning path settings
Click the Settings icon at the top of the page to expand the settings window.
In the settings menu, you can adjust the following settings for the learning path:
- Lock progression: When this setting is enabled, items in the learning path are locked until the learner completes the previous item, ensuring the learner completes the learning path in the order set by the instructor.
- Enable learning path certificate: When this setting is enabled, learners can print a completion certificate after completing the learning path. Instructors can upload a badge, signature, and custom message to the certificate.

Keywords/Tags, Target Audience, and Subject: Add identifiers for keywords, tags, target audience, and subject to the learning path to help organize it.
After adjusting the settings, click the “X” in the top-right corner to close the settings panel. The changes will be saved automatically.
Preview the learning path as a learner
During the creation of the learning path, you can preview it at any time. Click the Preview button at the top of the page to switch to preview mode.
After previewing, click the Exit Preview button to switch back to edit mode to continue editing the learning path.
Assign the learning path to learners
When you are ready to assign the learning path to your learners, click the Assign button in the top right corner of the window.
Alternatively, on the Learning Paths page in Multimedia Creation, click the learning path's triple-dot button and select Assign from the list.
Select the audience for the assignment; there are two options:
- Learners: A Student or Teacher account is required to take this assignment.

People outside organization: Anyone with the link can access and take this assignment. WeVideo account is not required to complete the learning path that is assigned through this option.
Select the class where you want to assign the assignment. If you don’t have any class yet, click the Create Class button to create a new class.
(Optional) Set a start date and due date for the assignment. The assignment will not be visible to learners until the start date and will be locked after the due date.
Click the Assign button in the top right corner to assign the learning path to the selected class.
Copy the assignment link and share it with your learners. If they have already been enrolled in the class, they can also access the assignment directly from the class.
To retrieve the share link, click the triple-dot button of the learning path and select the Share option from the list to see the assignment link again.
Monitor learners’ progress in the learning path
Navigate to the Classes page in WeVideo Multimedia Creation and click to open the class.
Click the learning path assignment in the class to launch it.
The learners’ progress and grade will be displayed in the Student Work section.
Limitations of the learning path
- If you receive the “refuse to connect” error, it means the website blocks the ability to be embedded on other platforms. Please try to find a different website to embed.
- The uploaded badge and signature must follow the following requirements:
- Uploaded badges are resized to 150 px on the longer side of the image while retaining the original aspect ratio. Use an image in a close-to-square format and larger than 150 px for the best effect.
- The certificate background is white and cannot be adjusted. If the badge is also a light color, consider a darker background or outline to distinguish it from the certificate background.
- PNG files with transparent backgrounds for the signature image are recommended.
- The maximum signature width is 200 px, and the maximum height is 100 px. If the uploaded signature is smaller than this height, the file will not be enlarged, as that can result in a blurry image on the certificate.
Role and plan requirements for creating learning paths in WeVideo
Admins and Instructors with the Education license (Instructor or Organization) can access the Learning Paths page from the Multimedia Creation space to create learning paths. While learners cannot create learning paths, they can take the learning path assignment directly from their class after their instructor assigns it.
