WeVideo’s LTI integration allows users to access their WeVideo account, take interactive video and playlist assignments, and create multimedia projects directly from the Learning Management System (LMS) without logging in to WeVideo from WeVideo’s homepage. To achieve this, essential data needs to be exchanged between WeVideo and the LMS. What data is exchanged between WeVideo and the LMS?
WeVideo requests the following data from the LMS to create accounts or match users to existing accounts in WeVideo when launching the WeVideo LMS integration:
- Name
- Role in the LMS
- User ID in the LMS
To connect the LMS course with WeVideo, the following information is also shared by the LMS with WeVideo:
- Course name
- Course ID
To sync the learners’ grades to the LMS gradebook, the following information will be sent to the LMS when learners complete an interactive video or playlist through the LTI integration.
- The score or grading for each completed interactive video or playlist attempt.
Is student data FERPA/COPPA compliant?
Yes, all users’ accounts under an Educational license are fully FERPA- and COPPA-compliant, which means WeVideo collects only the data absolutely necessary to maintain their accounts. WeVideo does not share student data from education plans with any third parties. Students are never presented with any advertising (not in the app, not by email, not through third parties). Students on education plans are, by default, opted out of all communications and cannot opt in.
