Create an interactive video with Boclips
Browse the Boclips library and pick videos to customize with interactions directly within WeVideo by selecting the Video Sources tab and choosing a video from the Boclips library.
Click the three dots of a video and select Open, Assign, or Add Interactivity.
- Open: Open video details.
- Assign: Assign to learners without adding interactions.
- Add Interactivity: Open to create a new video or import Boclips to an existing project.
Instructors can view Boclips from two different views.
All videos
Instructors can use the following tools to search all Boclips videos:
- List/grid view: Switch between list and grid views to display videos.
- Filter: Apply filters to search results to find videos that meet specific criteria.
- Search: Search videos with keywords and tags.
- Pages: Move to the next or previous page to view more.
Alignments
Select the academic standards from the page to find Boclips videos that meet that standard. Click the video to open the video details page.
Find the video title, tags, learning outcomes, sample assessment questions, and a video preview. Scroll down to view other related videos.
Click Add interactivity. Select either Open in new interactive video to create a new video or Add to existing interactive video to import Boclips to a current project.
Import Boclips videos
From either Multimedia Creation or Interactivity, select Interactive Videos from the left menu, then Create Interactive Video. This pulls up the video source options.
Select Boclips.
Alternatively, from Interactivity, select Video Sources, then Interactive video to pull up the same video sources options. Select Boclips.
From the video source page, enter keywords to search for videos. Select the video from search results.
The video and title and tags live here. Preview the video by clicking the Preview button.
Identify learning outcomes by scrolling down to view the video description. Click Done to finish importing or click Customize to view captions or trim video.
Add more videos by selecting Video Segments and choose Add Video. Videos do not need to be imported from the same source.
Once videos are added, toggle on Enable drag and drop reordering if necessary.
Edit imported videos
Click the pen icon and select Edit video segment.
Select Current Video or other options to replace the video segment.
Click the Captions tab to view available captions for the video segment. WeVideo automatically streams captions from Boclips if available.
Click the Trim & Crop tab and use the red and green flags to trim the video. Trims only affect the imported video, not the original video inside the Boclips library. Add internal crops by clicking Advanced and then Add Internal Crop.
Adjust start and end times for the crop or use the green and red flags to do so. Videos between these times aren’t shown to learners. Crops only affect the imported video, not the original in Boclips.
Repeat the steps above as many times as needed.
Add interactions to the videos
After videos are added to the interactive video editor, users can switch to the Interactions tab to add interactions, apply templates, or generate interactions with AI in WeVideo.
Adjust interactive video settings and preview
Select review to edit the title, add learning objectives, or upload a new thumbnail.
Expand the Tags section to add tags, target audience, and subjects for better organization, and expand the Playback options to adjust playback settings. Users can also expand the Privacy section to adjust privacy settings. This doesn’t affect whether learners can access the video, but it does affect whether other instructors can find it in the Premade Content library. Click Save Changes to save the edits.
Assign Boclips videos to learners
WeVideo's interactive video tools record learners’ start and completion times so instructors can monitor progress. Instructors can add interactions at any point. Boclips videos live in the Interactive Videos folder.
To monitor student progress after assigning a video, see this support article.
Go to Interactive Videos and select the three dots under Actions to open up the video menu. Click Assign. Alternatively, check the video to assign and click Assign from the top toolbar.
Adjust title, tags, payback options, and privacy settings as needed. Adjust Assign Preferences and select an option. Choose start and end dates, if desired. Assignments are not available to learners until the start date and are locked after the end date. Select classes and click Assign.
Assignments plan and permission requirements
Assigned video access depends on the following user account permissions.
- Assign to learners: For users with student or teacher accounts.
- Assign to professional learning: This option is deprecated. For professional learning, please select the "Assign for learners" option and enroll the participants in the class as learners.
- Assign to people outside the organization: Anyone can receive this assignment with a link. Users must enter their first and last names before starting the video. This is available for users with a district plan.
- Assign to anonymous participants: Anyone can access with a link. No user information is required. This is available for users with a district plan.
Note: Users cannot log in through the embedded player for security reasons. The embed code option is only available for assignments assigned through the Assign to people outside the organization or Assign to anonymous participants options.
