How do I broadcast interactive videos to my students?

Jason Liu -

In this article:

The Broadcast functionality in WeVideo Interactivity allows teachers and students to watch the interactive video and answer questions in the videos in real time. Teachers have full access to control the pace of the interactive video when broadcasting, which means they can fast forward, stop, or rewind the video if needed. Teachers can also see students’ responses to each question in real-time. Please see the workflow for broadcasting in Interactivity below.

When broadcasting, the video is playing on the instructor’s devices, and learners will only see questions on their devices. Teachers can project their screens in the classroom or use the screen share feature in the online classroom to watch the video simultaneously with students.

Assign the interactive video for broadcast

Any WeVideo interactive video can be used for broadcasting. Please see this article for more information about creating interactive videos with WeVideo Interactivity.

Note

Please place all the interactions in the sidebar for the Broadcast interactive video to ensure they can be displayed correctly to students.

When you are ready to start the broadcast, go to the My Interactive Videos page in Interactivity, click the thumbnail of the desired interactive video, and select Broadcast.

Adjust the target audience for the broadcast. There are four options:

  • Broadcast to students: Users need to log in to their student accounts to access the broadcast.
  • Broadcast to professional learning: Users need to log in to their teacher accounts to access the broadcast.
  • Broadcast to people outside the organization: Users do not need accounts to access the broadcast, but they need to enter their first and last names before starting the assignment.
  • Broadcast to anonymous participants: Users do not need accounts and do not need to enter their names to start the broadcast. All participants will be stored as anonymous users.

Once all learners have answered the questions, you can continue playing the video to move forward. Please note that students will not be able to submit their answers to the past questions once the video starts playing.

Since the teacher controls the playback, please make sure that you watch the video to the end and see the following completion screen to mark all users in the broadcast as completed. Once you see this screen, you can click Finish and Exit to complete the broadcast.
