What is a learner made interactive video?
Learner made interactive video assignments allow learners to access the interactive video editor and create their own interactive videos. Learners have access to the full power of the interactive video editor, including the ability to choose their own videos and embed all question types in their interactive videos. Instructors can use this feature to:
- Have learners review the class material and create interactive videos to demonstrate their learning outcomes.
- Have learners create their own videos and add interactions to increase engagement.
- Have learners record their presentation and reflect on their performance with comments.
Create a learner made interactive video
Click the drop-down next to the Create New Interactive Video button, and select Create Learner Made Interactive Video.
Enter the title and learning objectives/instructions for this learner made interactive video assignment. The learning objective/instructions will be displayed to learners when they launch the assignment.
Click Advanced Settings to expand the settings menu and adjust the following settings for the learner-made interactive video as needed.
Points: The points assigned to this assignment. The points can be set from 10 to 100.

Allow learners to use private video hosts: Learners can select private video hosts to create their interactive videos. If this option is not selected, learners can only use videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Boclips, and WeVideo to create their interactive videos.
Learners will access their own content within private video hosts: If this option is selected, learners will access their own account in the private video hosts and can use their own content there. If this option is not selected, learners will access the instructor's account in the private video hosts and use the content provided by their instructors.
Enable complete/incomplete grading: If enabled, learners receive full credit upon submitting their interactive videos, and instructors can adjust points on the monitor page afterward. If this option is not selected, learners will not receive points until their submissions are reviewed by the instructor.
After entering the information and adjusting the settings for the learner made interactive video assignment, click the Create button to complete the process.
Assign learner made interactive videos to classes
To assign the learner made interactive video to classes, click the thumbnail or the triple-dot actions button of the learner made interactive video, then select the Assign option from the action menu.
Select the assign preferences for the learner made interactive video assignment. There are four different options:
- Assign to learners: Users with either a teacher or student account can access and complete this assignment.
- Assign to professional learning (deprecated): Professional learning assignments have moved! Now, instructors no longer need to choose whether the assignment is for students or teachers; the same link will work for both groups. To assign interactive video as a professional learning assignment, please select the first option. Please see this article for more information about professional learning in Interactivity.
- Assign to people outside the organization: Anyone can access this assignment using the link. Before starting the interactive video, users will be asked to enter their first and last names. This option is available for users with the district plan.
- Assign to anonymous participants: Anyone can access this assignment using the link. No user information is needed to begin the interactive video. This option is available for users with the district plan.
Set the start and end dates for this assignment. The assignment will appear in the class after the start date, and the interactive video link will not work until then. The end date is the assignment's due date, and the assignment will be locked afterward. If no end date is assigned, the interactive video will always be available to learners.
Select the classes you want to assign the learner made interactive video to and click Assign on the top right of the window.
Copy the interactive video link and share it with learners. Click Done to close the window and go back to Interactivity.
To retrieve the assignment link, click the thumbnail or the triple-dot action button, then select the Share Link option from the action menu to see the assignment link.
Monitor learners’ submissions in the Learner Made Interactive Video assignment
Click the thumbnail or the Triple-dot Actions button for the Learner Made Interactive Video from the Interactive Videos page in Interactivity, then select Monitor.
Click the Monitor button next to the class you would like to view.
You can find the following information on the monitor page:
- Learner’s name
- Learner’s status in the assignment
- Scores: The scores each learner receives. Please follow the steps below to adjust the scores if needed.
- Unlock: Change the learner’s status back to in progress and allow the learner to continue editing their learner made interactive video. They will need to resubmit the assignment to mark it as completed
- Preview: Watch the learner’s submission in preview mode.
- Copy: Copy the learner’s submission into the instructor’s account. The copied interactive video can be found on the Interactive Videos page and can be assigned to other learners.
To adjust the points for learners, click the Enter Grade Mode button at the top left of the page.
Provide or adjust learners' scores in the Scores section. After completing grading, click the Save Grades button to save the changes.
