Will it create a new WeVideo account when I launch it from Canvas?

It depends on whether you already have a WeVideo account. If you don't have a WeVideo account, Canvas will create a new WeVideo account using the email and name Canvas shared with WeVideo. If you already have a WeVideo account, you will be prompted to connect your existing account when you first launch it from Canvas.

I have assignments in my accounts; will they be available in the new tool?

Yes, the assignments you created before will remain in your account. Depending on the assignment type, you'll need to take different steps to access them with the new LTI integration.

  • For Multimedia Creation and Quick Recording assignments, go to the class where the assignments are, select Edit, and click Convert to New Assignments to convert them. After converting, they will appear on the Assignments page and can be linked to your Canvas courses. Please see this article for more information on converting the legacy assignments to new assignments.
  • For Interactive Video and Learning Path assignments, you can assign them right away with the new integration with no extra steps.

Why can’t I see the class I created before when I access my account from the new integration?

To minimize the chance of accidentally linking an assignment to the wrong class, when accessing WeVideo from Canvas, you will see only the Canvas class on your WeVideo Classes page, but not the class you created in WeVideo.

To access the classes you created in WeVideo, sign in to your account from WeVideo’s sign-in page with your email and password. Please note that when you access WeVideo from outside of Canvas, you will not be able to access the courses that are connected with Canvas.

I assigned the assignment through the new Canvas integration. Can learners take it from WeVideo?

No, if the assignment is assigned to Canvas through the new LTI integration, both instructors and learners will need to access it from the Canvas course where it is linked. Vice versa, if the assignment is assigned within WeVideo, instructors and learners will not be able to access it from the Canvas integration.

Can I assign the same assignment to multiple classes?

Yes, each assignment can be assigned to multiple classes for different learners. Any edits you make to the assignment will reflect in all classes it is assigned to, so you don’t need to go over each class to make adjustments.

Can I assign the assignment to multiple Canvas assignments in the same class?

No, each WeVideo assignment can only be linked to a Canvas class once. If you try to link it to the same class a second time, you will be prompted to either create a copy or unlink it from the previous assignment before you can link it again.

If you just want to unlink the assignment, go to the Canvas assignment where it is linked, click the triple-dot action button, and select Unlink from the action menu.
