Yes, you can continue editing a mobile project in the web editor. You can begin a project on the WeVideo mobile app and then copy it to our web editor for further customization. This allows for the creativity and flexibility that comes with mobile, and the powerful, detail-oriented editing tools available via the web.

In this article:

Before you start

Before being able to edit a project on both mobile and web, you must first create a project within your mobile app.

How to copy a project from mobile to web

To copy your WeVideo project from your mobile device and begin working on it in the WeVideo web browser:

The projects in WeVideo's mobile app

Select your project from your home screen, or click Create video to start a new project.

The copy to web option in the project's action menu

Tap the three stacked dots on your project's thumbnail, then tap Copy to web

Confirmation window to confirm coping the project to web.

A pop-up will appear; click Copy to save the project to the web.

The notification to confirm the project has been copied to web

After clicking Copy, a pop-up notification will appear at the top of the app, informing you that your project has been copied to your web projects.

The projects page in the WeVideo Multimedia Creation space

Log in to your WeVideo account from the browser and navigate to the Multimedia Creation space. Select the Projects tab from the sidebar menu to launch the Projects page. The copied projects can be found on the Projects page, with the “_mobile_copy” flag appended to their titles. Click the Edit button to launch the copied project in the web editor and continue editing it.

A notification to inform you that some mobile features are not available in the web editor.

When you click Edit, a pop-up will appear and allow you to click Open to begin editing.

Note: As soon as you copy your mobile project to the web editor, it exists separately. Any changes made to the web copy will not affect the mobile version, and vice versa.

Elements you can’t edit between mobile and web

Some mobile assets or features don’t match those available in the web editor. Overlay effects and stickers will not copy over and will be removed from the video file where they were placed.

Additionally, some motion titles are different between web and mobile. When your project is copied, the motion tiles will remain, but the text output will be static. To correct this, substitute a mobile motion tile with one from the web editor.

Please note that, at this time, copying a project from the web to mobile is unavailable.

Plan and permission requirements

Editing a project on the WeVideo mobile app and the web editor is only available to paid subscribers.
