Accessibility Policy and Standard

Is WeVideo aligning development with WCAG 2.1 AA or WCAG 2.2 AA?

WeVideo is committed to WCAG 2.1 AA for the current requirements. At the same time, we are also building toward supporting future standards, including WCAG 2.2 AA.

Has WeVideo been evaluated against WCAG 2.1 AA?

Yes, WeVideo has collaborated with Allyant (formerly known as Accessible360) to conduct a thorough evaluation of our product against the WCAG 2.1 Level A, AA, and AAA standards. Please see the accessibility evaluation report in the most recent VPAT (WCAG edition and Revised Section 508 edition).

Are there known accessibility limitations in navigation, interactive components, or visual design?

All evaluated areas in the accessibility report received a rating of “Supports” in our most recent evaluation. This means the functionality of the product has at least one method that meets the criterion without known defects or meets with equivalent facilitation.

Does WeVideo include remediation timelines for any unresolved items?

Yes, our roadmap includes remediation for newly identified unresolved items. Accessibility is prioritized alongside core product development. We move quickly to resolve accessibility issues and continuously improve the platform. Our Service Level Commitment (SLC) ensures that any identified accessibility barriers are entered into an expedited remediation track, with a target resolution within 120 days.

Does WeVideo maintain an accessibility statement or a VPAT that reflects the current system's capabilities?

Yes, WeVideo maintains an accessibility statement page with the VPAT to help users understand our current accessibility status and support. The accessibility statement and VPAT will be updated promptly whenever changes occur to our product. Please see our accessibility statement and VPAT below.

What is WeVideo’s approach to ensuring accessibility of products and services?

WeVideo invests in thoroughly reviewing, improving, and monitoring the accessibility of our product. Our technical reviews include accessibility controls for every feature under development. Our testing methodology includes manual testing with screen readers, assistive technologies, and keyboard-only navigation before a feature is considered complete. We evaluate a significant and representative sample of our platform, encompassing key user flows, core features, critical UI/UX paths, and different content types, as well as a holistic, randomly selected set of pages using an automated pattern-detection mechanism. Identified accessibility

violations are immediately logged as high-priority defects and scheduled for prompt remediation by product teams, with a maximum remediation timeframe of 120 days.

Testing and evaluation are conducted regularly across multiple devices, operating systems, and browsers. At WeVideo, we view accessibility from two perspectives: the static presentation of content and its dynamic/interactive behavior.

  • Static Accessibility: Ensuring that fixed content, such as static text, images, and the overall structure, is perceivable and understandable by all users. Industry-standard tools like Axe are commonly used to identify this category of accessibility violations, which can create barriers for users who rely on assistive technology. We utilize our own purpose-built, in-house accessibility scanning solution. This system is designed to promptly detect, report, and ensure that our product teams address any WCAG violations in a continuous cycle that repeats with every product iteration. We integrate WAI-ARIA roles, labels, and attributes throughout the development lifecycle, implementing them during code authoring and validating them through accessibility testing to ensure compliance with standards, usability, and effective screen reader interpretation.
  • Dynamic / Interactive Accessibility: Ensuring that content which is dynamic, interactive, or real-time - including elements like widgets, dialogs, and status messages - is fully accessible. The core objective is to enhance the overall user experience and journey across the product by creating accessible end-to-end flows and a unified user experience. To thoroughly evaluate dynamic accessibility, our QA engineers utilize widespread screen readers, including NVDA (Windows), VoiceOver (MacOS), and JAWS. Furthermore, they apply WCAG best practices to ensure a consistent and accessible user experience. Modern browsers used for testing: Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox (on both Windows and MacOS platforms).

Together, these two concepts ensure comprehensive coverage of accessibility from the published information itself (static) to the way users interact with it in real time (dynamic).
