Yes, WeVideo supports instructors in uploading captions to media added to interactive videos. If the videos already have captions on their video hosts, the captions will also be shown in the interactive video.
Before you start
- If the videos you want to add to the Interactivity space are from your WeVideo exports, generate captions for them first before adding them to Interactivity.
Add captions to the videos in Interactivity
From the Interactivity space, click the Create New Interactive Video button on the Interactive Videos page.
Alternatively, from the Multimedia Creation space, navigate to the Interactive Videos page and click the Create Interactive Video button.
Select the video host you want to use, and search for the video.
After finding the video, click Customize to switch to the Accessibility tab. If the video has captions from its video host, they will be listed here.
To upload your own captions, switch to the Captions tab, drag and drop the captions into the upload section at the top of the captions settings window. Please note that WeVideo only supports captions in VTT and SRT format. After uploading the captions, click Done to save.
Switch back to the Video Segments tab, click the Add Video button, and repeat the steps above to add more videos with captions as needed. After adding the video segments, you can then start adding questions and interactions to the videos.
Upload captions after adding the videos to the interactive video
To upload the captions for the interactive video, switch to the Video Segments tab in the interactive video editor, and click the Captions icon at the top left corner of the imported video segments. The icon might be grayed out if no captions are added to the video, but you can still click it to open the captions settings window for this video segment.
Upload a new caption by dragging and dropping the captions into the upload section at the top of the captions window. Please note that WeVideo only supports captions in VTT and SRT format. After uploading the captions, click Done to save.
Limits to adding captions in Interactivity
Only the captions in VTT and SRT format are supported in WeVideo. Please convert the captions files into the supported format before uploading them to the interactive video editor.
Plans and role requirements for adding captions in Interactivity
All instructors and administrators with an education license (Instructor or Organization) have access to create interactive videos and upload captions to them. Learners with an education license can also add captions to their interactive videos when working on learner-made video assignments.
