Yes, WeVideo’s Interactivity space supports screen readers. Users can navigate and interact with the space using keyboard and screen readers.
Which screen readers are supported?
Most screen readers are supported, and we use the following screen readers for our accessibility testing.
- Windows devices: NVDA, JAWS
- MacOS devices: VoiceOver
What will be read out by the screen readers?
The screen readers will read out the following information in the Interactivity space:
- Buttons
- Icons
- Page headers
- Titles for the classes, interactive videos, and playlists.
- The content in the interactions and answer options.
- The images and equations in the interactions, as long as the instructors have added alternative text.
- The content in the embedded PDF file, if the file supports screen readers.
- Notifications
- Text entering sections
Limitations for using screen readers in the WeVideo Multimedia Creation space
While WeVideo is dedicated to making the platform more accessible by fully supporting screen readers, there are some known limitations to using screen readers in the Interactivity space.
- Some icons and progress bar elements are not readable by the screen readers.
- Some screen-reader announcement gaps concerning metadata, labels, descriptions, and headings.
- Some dialogs don’t close with ESC, and some actions only misbehave when a screen reader is on.
- Focus skips or jumps between key buttons/cards/filters, not following visual order.
- A couple of dynamic error messages are incorrectly announced by screen readers/narrators
- Some status messages are not being announced correctly.
- Visual-only feedback when changes happen.
- Slight inconsistencies or missing screen reader feedback.
