Follow these steps to translate your captions
Click the Exports tab on your WeVideo dashboard and open the exported video.
Click the Captions button.
In the top left corner, you’ll see a dropdown menu showcasing all of the language options available. Use the dropdown menu to select the language you prefer. All captions will now be attached to exports, and users can choose which captions to display when they watch the shared video in the WeVideo player.

The multilingual caption generator is available to users with a multi-user license. The multilingual caption generator will detect the language used in the video and generate captions accordingly. You can also translate captions into different languages using the multi-language caption generator.

How accurate are the generated captions in WeVideo?

WeVideo uses the Whisper model for auto-captioning for Educational license (Instructor and Organization) users and Enterprise license users, and the AWS Transcribe service for Individual Creator or Teams license users. In the test environment, AWS Transcribe achieves a Word Error Rate of approximately 12–15% on clean, general-purpose English audio under optimal conditions, corresponding to roughly 85–88% word-level accuracy. The Whisper model achieves a similar result. Please note that results may vary depending on audio quality, language, and context.
To ensure accuracy, WeVideo provides an in-platform captions editor that lets users easily edit and correct generated captions when needed.
