How to add templates or reuse interactions in Interactivity?

When building interactive videos in WeVideo Interactivity, users can add pre-formatted templates to the interactive video, which contain pre-built interactions that can be further edited after adding them. Additionally, users can find and reuse all the interactions they created before from the My Interactions option when adding interactions to the interactive video. Please see this article for more information about adding templates and reusing interactions in WeVideo Interactivity.

Template gallery

The template gallery includes a collection of interaction groups with pre-filled information and timecodes that can be added to the interactive video at once. There are two ways to access the template gallery from the interactive video editor.

From the Video Segments tab: After adding the video segments to the interactive video, click the Apply Template button on the lower left corner of the Video Segments tab.

From the Interactions tab: After adding the video segments to the interactive video, switch to the Interactions tab, and click the Open Template Gallery button to access the template gallery.

Instructors can find the following pre-formatted templates from the gallery:

  • Learner Feedback: Add a poll question at the end of the interactive video for learners to rate their experience, followed by a free response question where they can provide more detail.
  • Learner Notes: Adds a reflective pause in a hotspot at the beginning of the interactive video to teach learners how to use PlayPosit's Notes feature.
  • Learner Experience: Add five reflective pause interactions with instructions for finding notes, playback settings, and a reminder to watch until the end to be marked complete.
  • Discussion: Add a discussion forum in the sidebar that lasts for the entire interactive video so learners can comment at any time.
  • Pre/Post Assessment: Add two free response questions in the sidebar at the beginning and end of the interactive video to ask learners what they already know, and what concepts they mastered upon completion.
  • Summative Assessment: Add four multiple choice questions in the sidebar at the end of the interactive video to prompt learners to reflect on what they learned in this interactive video.
  • Checking For Understanding: Adds five stacked free response and poll questions to evaluate learner understanding
  • One of Each: A template that contains all of the interaction types, evenly spaced throughout the middle of the interactive video.

To add the template to the interactive video, click the Apply button on the selected template.

Click Apply on the pop-up window to confirm adding the template to the interactive video.

The template has now been added to the interactive video. Instructors can adjust the following settings for the interactions in the imported template.

  1. Interaction time: Enter a new timecode for the interaction group to adjust when this interaction group will be displayed to learners in the interactive video.
  2. Interaction type: Change the interaction type for the interactions in the group. Please note that once the interaction type is changed, the pre-formatted content might also be changed or removed.
  3. Placement: Adjust the placement of the interaction.
  4. Content: Click the interaction to edit the content or click the answer options to adjust them.

Template interactions

Template interactions are the interaction type that comes with pre-formatted structures that allow instructors to quickly build the interaction by adjusting the content within them. Similar to regular interaction types, template interactions can be added in the interactive video at any timestamp.

To add the template interactions to the interactive video, drag the white playhead to the desired timestamp and click + Create New Interaction.

Click the Interaction Type section to expand the drop-down menu, and scroll down to the Templates section.

Instructors can find the following template options from the list:

  • Vocabulary Matching: A pre-formatted fill-in-the-blank question with a word bank and three blanks for learners to match the words from the word bank with their definitions.
  • Table of Contents: Add a table of contents that includes all the video segments and interactions in the interactive video. Users can click on the items in the table of contents to jump to the selected section.
  • Functions Table: A pre-formatted fill-in-the-blank question with three blanks for testing math equations or other concepts.
  • Place In Order: A pre-formatted fill-in-the-blank question with five blanks for learners to enter the order of the items in the question.
  • Auto jump: Add an auto-jump point in the interactive video. When learners reach the auto-jump points, they will be automatically directed to the timestamp set by the instructor.
Note:
  • Auto-jumps are designed to only jump learners forward in the Bulb. Jumping learners backward will cause an infinite loop.
  • Fast-forward must be enabled from the interactive video settings to allow learners to jump to the selected timestamp. Additionally, do not place any required interaction between the start and end time of the auto-jump. Otherwise, learners will stop to answer the required interaction instead of being jumped to the timestamp set by the auto-jump.
  • Please see this article for more information about using Auto-jump interaction in interactive videos.

My interactions

Instructors can view and reuse interactions they created before from the My Interactions option when adding interactions to the interactive video. To add interactions from My Interactions to the interactive video, drag the white playhead to the desired timestamp and click + Create New Interaction.

Click the Interaction Type section to expand the drop-down menu, and scroll down to the My Interactions option.

All the interactions created before will be listed here, and instructors can use the search bar at the top to search for interactions.

Instructors can also use the Filter tool to filter the interactions by the interaction type, or switch to display question banks created before by selecting the Random Question Banks option from the drop-down menu.

View the interactions from the list, click the check box next to the interactions to select them, and click the Preview Interactions button to preview the selected interactions.

After previewing the interactions, click Add Interactions to add the selected interactions to the interactive video.
