What are secondary streams?
A secondary stream enables instructors to overlay an additional video stream on top of the main video and display both simultaneously to learners. It can be a more versatile option for instructors to present information to learners, improve learner engagement, and close the gap of lacking interactions in asynchronous learning environments.
It is common for some learners to find the content in the video complicated or abstract. Instructors can utilize the secondary stream to provide an additional visual explanation of the content, helping learners better understand the topic. On the other hand, a secondary stream can be an excellent tool for learner engagement. For example, if the instructor uses the slide show presentation as the main video, they can record themselves presenting the slides and add it as a secondary stream overlay on the slide deck. This can help learners feel that they are interacting with their instructor and further motivate them to participate in the learning process.
Similar to the primary stream video in the interactive video, the video segments for the secondary stream can be hosted by the public video host (YouTube and Vimeo), the selected private hosts, or exports from WeVideo. Please see this article for more information about secondary streams in WeVideo Interactivity.
