How do instructors assign content to learners through Blackboard?

Instructors can assign interactive content to their learners through the Blackboard integration, and learners can complete the assignment directly in Blackboard with their grades synced to the gradebook. Please see more information about assigning interactive content through Blackboard in this article.

Assign content to learners through Blackboard

Log in to a Blackboard instructor account and navigate to the class where the PlayPosit content should be assigned.

Select Content, click the + icon, select Content Market, and find and select the PlayPosit integration from the list.

Instructors can also select Build Content from the Content page and find the PlayPosit integration from the list.

Click the Set Link button on the Manage Link page to launch into PlayPosit.

Click the Blackboard icon next to the Bulb and click Link to assign it to the Blackboard class. If there is no Bulb in the account yet, please follow the steps in this article to create the first Bulb.

If playlists are available in the license, instructors can select Playlists from the sidebar, click the Blackboard icon next to the playlist, and click Link to assign it to the Blackboard class.

Select the learner experience to be an asynchronous self-paced or synchronous live broadcast, and click Set Link to link the content to the course.

The interactive content is now linked to the Blackboard course. Instructors can repeat the steps in this section to assign multiple content to the course.

Note: The grade item will appear in Blackboard’s gradebook once a learner launches the assignment. Instructors can also launch the assignment through Student Preview to have the grade item appear in the gradebook.

Adjust the due date and points for the linked content

Switch to the Student Preview in Blackboard and launch the linked content to connect it with the gradebook.

Exit the Student Preview, click the three-dot button of the linked content in Blackboard, and select Edit.

Update the due date and available points for the assignment. The points available in Blackboard default to the values set in PlayPosit. If the points are updated in Blackboard, learners’ grades will automatically convert from the points earned in PlayPosit to the points available in Blackboard. For example, if a learner receives 5 out of 10 points from a Bulb in PlayPosit, and the assignment is set to 100 points in Blackboard, the learner's score will be converted to 50 out of 100 in Blackboard.

Monitor learners’ progress

Click the interactive assignment from the Blackboard course and click the Monitor button on the Manage Link page.

On the monitor page, you can find learners’ names, scores, status, and responses to each question in this assignment. Please see this article for more information about the monitor page.

Sync grades to Blackboard gradebook

If the Bulbs or playlists only contain auto-graded interactions (multiple choice, check-all-that-apply, fill-in-the-blank), learners' grades will be synced to the Blackboard gradebook automatically once they complete the assignment.

If there are manually graded free response interactions in the Bulbs or instructors have edited learners’ points on the monitor page, please follow the steps below to manually sync the most updated grades to Blackboard.

Launch the monitor page for the assignment and assign points to learners if needed.

Click the Sync Grades button on the top left of the window to send the updated grades to Blackboard.
