Import videos to PlayPosit from YouTube/Vimeo
Select Create New Bulb to launch the Bulb Designer.
There are two options to import videos from YouTube/Vimeo:
Option 1: Search from the video host
Click the YouTube or Vimeo option from the list.
Search for the video by keywords. Please note that the video must be set to Public to show in the search results.
Select the video you want to preview the video.
Click Done to import the video.
Option 2: Paste the video link to the designer
If the video is not public, instructors can also paste the URL to the Bulb Designer to import it. Select Input URL from the list.
Paste the URL to the input section to import the video.
After loading the video, click Done to import the video.
Best practices for using YouTube/Vimeo videos
Don’t place interactions at the very beginning or the very end of the YouTube video
Due to loading and initializing, the timing passback from the YouTube video might be slightly inaccurate. The difference will not affect the interactions in the Bulb but may cause the interactions placed at the beginning or end of the video segment not to display correctly. To prevent this issue, please leave around 0.5 seconds at the beginning and end of each YouTube video segment in the Bulb when inserting interactions.
Auto-generated YouTube captions will not be displayed in the Bulb
The captions from the YouTube videos can be displayed in the PlayPosit player when learners take the Bulb. However, the auto-generated captions can not be streamed to PlayPosit and will not be available to learners when taking the Bulb.
Captions from YouTube might be blocked by the progress bar
While the captions from YouTube can be displayed in PlayPosit without additional steps, the progress bar might block the YouTube Caption when displaying on the player.
Learners can click the gear icon and change the Controls Display option to Fade so the progress bar will fade away when the Bulb plays.
Also, learners can click the Full-Screen button to watch the Bulb in fullscreen mode to prevent the progress bar from blocking the captions.
Use the unlisted link to import the unlisted Vimeo video
If the Vimeo video is set to unlisted, please use the Unlisted Vimeo video link instead of copying the link from the URL bar to import the video into PlayPosit. Please see this Vimeo article for more information about the unlisted Vimeo link.
