Launch PlayPosit Bulb designer
Log into your PlayPosit account and select the My Bulbs option from the sidebar to navigate to the My Bulbs page.
Click Create New Bulb to launch the Bulb designer.
Import media
The PlayPosit Bulb designer supports adding videos from various sources. You can select one of the sources from the list to insert media into the designer and create an interactive video with it.
- My Videos: The videos uploaded to your account through the My Videos tab can be found here.
- Input URL: Paste the link to your video here to insert it into the Bulb Designer. The link must be from the supported video sources.
- Upload & Record: Upload the videos directly to the designer or record the video with the webcam.
- Supported video sources: Select the video source from the list and find the video you want to use from the selected source. YouTube and Vimeo are public video sources that are available to all users. Kaltura, Panopto, and Mediasite are private video sources that can be integrated into your account. Please contact success@wevideo.com if you want to integrate your PlayPosit account with the private video source.
After selecting the video, click Done to complete importing it to the designer or click Customize to adjust the video.
You can view the available captions on the Captions tab or upload your captions to the video.
To trim the imported video, click Customize again to switch to the Trim & Crop tab, and use the green and red flags to trim the imported video.
You can add more videos to a Bulb by clicking the Add Video button on the Video Segments page.
To reorder the imported video segments, toggle on the Enable Drag and Drop Reordering option, drag and drop the video segments to reorder them, and toggle off the option after reordering.
Add Interactions to the Bulb
Switch to the Interactions tab to add interactions to the Bulb. There are three options for adding interactions.
Option 1: Use templates
You can select the preformatted interactions from the template gallery to add to your Bulb. Once the template is added, you can adjust its content, format, timing, and placement.
Select the Open Template Gallery option on the top of the interactions page to expand the template gallery.
Find the template you want to use and click Apply.
Click Apply again to confirm to add the template to the Bulb.
The template is now added to the Bulb, and you can adjust it by clicking on the input section.
Option 2: Create your interactions
Start playing the video or drag the white dot on the progress bar to the desired timestamp and click Create New Interaction.
Adjust the interaction type with the drop-down menu on the top left of the interaction. The following interaction types are available:
- Multiple Choice: Learners need to choose one correct answer from a list of answer options. This interaction can only have one correct answer and will be auto-graded.
- Check All That Apply: Learners need to choose all the correct answers from a list of answer options. This interaction will be auto-graded.
- Free Response: Learners answer the question by submitting their responses in text, image, and/or audio format. This interaction requires instructors to grade it manually. Please see the monitor section below for more information about grading.
- Fill-in-the-blank: Present learners with a phrase that is missing one or more words. Questions can have multiple blanks and multiple correct answers. Please press Enter/Return to separate each correct answer. Responses are not case-sensitive but spelling-sensitive. Learners can receive partial credit for their answers; this interaction will be auto-graded.
- Poll: Learners select one or more options from a list of answer options. There is no right or wrong answer to this interaction, and the interaction is non-graded by default. If points are added to this interaction, all learners who answer it will receive full credit for this interaction.
- Discussion: Learners can post comments and reply to their peers' posts in real time. Instructors can monitor and delete the post if needed. This interaction is non-graded by default. If points are added, all learners who contribute to the discussion will receive full credit for this interaction.
- Pause: Pause the video playback and display the information entered by the instructor.
- Web Embed: Embed a website in the video player that allows learners to explore the website without leaving the video.
- PDF file: Upload the PDF file from the device or import the PDF file with the link to the Bulb as an interaction. Learners can use the built-in tool to add comments, highlight texts, and draw on the PDF file. These annotations will also be exportable for learners when they download the PDF file from the Bulb. This interaction is not graded by default, but you can change the point value if desired.
- My interactions: You can find and reuse all the interactions you have created in this section.
- Templates: Preformatted interactions that you can add to the Bulb. The content of the templates can be changed afterward.
After selecting the interaction type to add, enter the information for the interaction and click Save to create the interaction.
(Optional) To adjust the timing of the interaction, update the time code in the Interaction Time section above. If you want to make this interaction durational, click the triple dots in the Interaction Time section and select Add end time to set the end time for this interaction. This interaction will be displayed to learners between the set start and end times.
(Optional) By default, the interaction will be placed on the left sidebar. To adjust the placement, click the Placement on the top right and select a new placement for the interaction. You can further fine-tune the placement by expanding the Advanced settings.
Repeat the steps in this section to add more interaction to this Bulb.
Option 3: Generate interactions with AI
To generate interactions with the AI tool, the video needs to be added to the Bulb with one of the following methods:
- Upload to the My Videos section in PlayPosit and generate captions with the auto-captioning tool before adding to the Bulb.
- Upload the video with the caption file in .VTT or .SRT format directly to the Bulb designer.
- Import your video from YouTube and upload the captions to it in PlayPosit.
After importing the video into the designer, switch to the Interactions tab and select Generate Interactions.
Select the option to generate the question on the selected timestamp or randomly generate the questions for the entire video. Then, choose the complexity and interaction type of the question. For the selected timestamp, only one complexity and interaction type can be selected, and multiple complexities and interaction types can be chosen for the entire video. There are six complexity levels based on the Bloom's Taxonomy:
- Remember: The question focuses on the learner’s ability to recall facts and basic concepts.
- Understand: The question that requires learners to explain ideas or concepts.
- Apply: The question that asks learners to use the information they learned in new situations.
- Analyze: Learners need to draw connections among the ideas and information.
- Evaluate: Learners will be asked to justify their stand or decision.
- Create: Learners have to produce new or original works based on what they learned from the Bulb.
After completing the settings, click Generate Interaction.
The AI-generated question has been added to the Bulb. It will be highlighted in purple to indicate that it is AI-generated.
