What is question banks?

Question banks contain multiple questions, and one of these questions is randomly assigned to students when they reach the timestamp. Question banks can be helpful if you want to allow students to retake the Bulb but want them to see different questions when they retake it so they can not complete the Bulb by memorizing the answers from their previous attempts.

The question banks also help minimize the chance of cheating since questions are randomly assigned to students from the question bank, making it harder for students to share their answers with others.

Create question banks in Interactivity

Learner’s experience

When students reach the question bank, they will not be notified that this is a random question picked from the question bank. They will answer it as a regular question, submit their answer, and move forward in the Bulb.

Monitor question banks

Click the thumbnail and select Monitor, then select the class you want to monitor to access the monitor page.

Question banks will appear in the gradebook with a merged header to show that these questions are in a question bank. Only one of the questions in a bank will be shown to a learner per bulb attempt. Questions that have not appeared during the attempt will show in the gradebook as “-”.

FAQs

What’s the difference between interaction groups and question banks?

Interaction groups: Multiple interactions are added to the same group and placed at the same timestamp in the Bulb. When students reach the timestamp, interactions will be displayed to learners one by one in the order set by the teacher, and students will need to answer all the questions in the group to complete the interaction groups and move forward. All types of interactions can be added to the interaction groups, and they do not need to be the same type of interaction to be in the same group.

Question banks: Multiple questions are added to the bank, and only one will be assigned to learners on each attempt. Students will only need to answer the question assigned to them to complete the question bank and move forward. Only multiple choice and check all that apply questions can be added to the question bank, and there can only be one question type for each bank.

How will question banks be graded?

All the questions in the question bank are assigned with the same points value, and students will gain full credits from the question bank when they answer the assigned question correctly. Those questions not assigned to the student will not be counted or affect their final grade for the Bulb.
