The WeVideo editor includes the Simplified and Full Featured editing modes to accommodate users with varying skill levels. To start a new edit in either the Simplified or Full Featured modes, simply select from one of the two entry points on the dashboard.
You can also start a new edit in either mode via the Create New button on the dashboard.
Simplified editor mode
The Simplified editor mode is intended for beginners with minimal experience creating videos. This mode is great for individuals who want to create a simple video in just a few minutes.
In this mode, you can easily modify clips, trim videos, add text, and add music. You can add one voiceover file and one music file to an edit in the Simplified editor mode. If the video is longer than the audio used as the music file, it will loop automatically. If you want to have multiple audio tracks with more control, consider switching to the Full featured edior mode.
Please keep in mind that the Simplified editor mode can only be used with the Personal and Shared project types.
Full featured editor mode
The Full featured editing mode is the recommended editing mode for maximizing the usage of all available features in the editor. Editing capabilities limited only to the Full featured editor include:
- Multi-track video editing to overlay text or create the picture-in-picture effect.
- Color keying tools to create the Green Screen effect.
- Modify the clip opacity and audio levels of tracks.
In this mode, there is no limit to how many video and audio tracks you can add to your video. This is the editing mode used when creating Collaborative Projects.
You can start an edit in the Simplified editor and switch to the Full Featured editor for deeper editing at any point in the creation process.
If you start in Simplified editor and switch to the Full Featured editor:
- All the clips from the Simplified editor will be visible in the “Video 1” track.
- Applied music will be visible in the "Audio 1" track.
- Applied text will be visible in the “Text” track.
