How do I complete the learner made interactive video assignment as a student?

The Learner Made Interactive Video assignment in Interactivity allows you to utilize the interactive video designer to create your own interactive videos as a student and submit it to your instructors. Please see more information about how to complete the learner made interactive video assignment in Interactivity below.

Launch the Learner Made Interactive Video assignment

From Multimedia Creation

Log in to your WeVideo Account, and use the drop-down menu at the top to switch to the Multimedia Creation space.

Click the Classes tab on the sidebar to navigate to the Classes page, and select the class from the list.

Click the Learner Made Interactive Video assignment to open it.

Click the Play button or the Continue button to launch the video editor and start creating your interactive video.

From Interactivity

After logging into your WeVideo account, click the Multimedia Creation button at the top and select Interactivity.

Select the class from the list.

Click the title of the assignment to start taking the learner made interactive video.

Import videos to your interactive video

Learners can import videos to the interactive video editor with the following options.

  • Video History: Videos that have been imported to WeVideo Interactivity before.
  • Input URL: Paste the video URL into the editor with this option to import the video. Please note that the video URL must be retrieved from a supported video host, such as YouTube, Vimeo, or any other video host your school uses.
  • Upload & Record: If your instructor enables the upload video feature for this assignment, you can select this option to upload the video file from your device or record the video within the editor directly. Please note that the uploaded and recorded videos will consume the storage space in the license.
  • Video hosts: Click on the video host you want to use from the list below, and search for the video with keywords. The available video hosts may differ from the screenshot depending on the school settings.

Upload videos

Select the Upload & Record option from the list and click the Upload & Record button.

Select to upload videos from the device, record a screencast, or record with the webcam.

If you select to upload videos, select the file from your device to upload and wait for the upload to complete.

If you select to record videos with the screen or webcam, after selecting the recording source, click the Start Recording button to start. Depending on the resolution setting of your device, you might need to scroll down to see the recording button.

After completing the recording, wait for 3 to 4 seconds and click the Stop Recording button to stop the recording.

Preview the recording and click the blue check mark to start uploading the recording. If you would like to record again, click the red cross to redo the recording.

After the video or recording is uploaded, click Done to import it. If you would like to adjust the captions or trim the video, click Customize to edit the video.

Upload the captions file to the video if needed. WeVideo supports the captions in VTT and SRT format. After adjusting the captions, click Customize again to move to the Trim and Crop tab.

Drag the green and red flags to trim the video. The trim will not affect the original video and will only have effects in this interactive video when others view it.

If you would like to crop out a portion of the video, move the playhead to the timestamp, click Advanced, and click the Add Internal Crop button.

Set the Start and End time for the internal crop to adjust which part of the video will be cropped out.

Click Done to complete editing the video and import it to the interactive video editor.

Click the Add Video button on the Video Segments tab in the editor and repeat the steps in this section to import more video if needed.

The uploaded videos and recordings can be found in the Video History section when adding video segments to the interactive video.


Import from the video host

Select the video host, search for videos using keywords, and choose a video from the list.

Preview the selected video, and click Done to import it. If you would like to adjust the captions or trim the video, click Customize to edit the video.

View the available video captions from the Captions tab, and upload the captions file to the video if needed. WeVideo supports the captions in VTT and SRT format. After adjusting the captions, click Customize again to move to the Trim and Crop tab.

Add interactions to your interactive video

Switch to the Interactions tab at the top.

Move the playhead on the progress bar to the timestamp you want to add the interaction and click the Create New Interaction button.

Select the interaction type from the drop-down menu.

Enter the content for the interaction.

(Optional) Adjust the placement of the interaction. By default, the interactions will be placed on the sidebar, and you can make it overlay on the video by adjusting the placement.

(Optional) You can also make the interaction durational. The durational interaction will be displayed to viewers in the set timeframe. To make the interaction durational, click the three-dot button next to the Interaction Time section and select the Add End Time option.

Enter the end time for the interaction. The interaction will be shown to viewers from the start time and will fade away after the end time.

Click Save to save the interaction. You can repeat the steps in this section to add more interaction to your interactive video.

(Optional)Set up discussions to allow instructors to leave feedback with timestamps

The discussion interaction added to the learner made interactive video allows instructors to leave comments with timestamps when reviewing it, and the learner can also reply to those comments.

Switch to the interactions tab at the top and click the Create New Interaction button.

Select the Discussion interaction type from the drop-down menu and enter the text for the discussion.

Click the three-dot button next to the Interaction Time section, and select the Add End Time option.

Adjust the start and end time to match the interactive video.

Expand the Advanced settings and unselect the Interaction Pauses Video Playback option so the interactive video will not be interrupted by the discussion interaction.

Click Save to save the interaction.

When reviewing the learner made interactive video, instructors can enter their feedback into the discussion interaction, and the feedback will include the timecode where the instructor entered it. Learners can also reply to the feedback to start the discussion with their instructors by reviewing their submitted learner made interactive video.

Review and submit your interactive video

Switch to the Review tab at the top. Edit the title if needed, and click on Preview to preview your interactive video. After confirming everything looks good, click Submit to turn in your interactive video.

Please note that once you submit your interactive video, you cannot edit it anymore.

After seeing the confirmation page, you can close this tab and return to your WeVideo account.

Review the grades and submissions

To view the grades of the submitted learner made interactive videos, navigate to the class in the Interactivity space and select the Gradebook tab at the top to view the grades for the submitted assignments.

If a discussion interaction is added to the interactive video, you can review the comments by watching the submitted interactive videos from the class. Select the Interactive Videos tab at the top of the class, and click the title of the learner made interactive video assignment.

Start watching the submitted interactive video, and access the discussion from the sidebar to view and reply to the instructor’s comments.
